Pastor Greg's Notes

There are copies of the read the Bible in a year plan available in the sanctuary, also available here on our web-page. click here

Asking for plastic grocery bags, they will be used to make mats for the homeless!

Need to Build up Paper Products

We need lots of plates both dinner and dessert size, knives, forks and spoons.

Sam's sells these in bulk for good prices. 200 plates for 18$,

600 forks or spoons or knives are 14$, Dessert plates are 1000 for 13$

This is not just for our Holy Cow! meal but as we open our doors to the hungry and marginalized of our community we need to be able to keep the supplies ready for them. Eddie and Rev. Greg are establishing contact with the food bank Dare to Care where we should be able to buy our food for pennies on the dollar. We expect the meal to have maybe thirty to forty at first but will grow to 80 to 100 perhaps as early as Christmas. This is exciting.

Pray about our open table ministry and how you can help.

We need folks to help in the kitchen, help serve as it will be cafeteria style,

help cleaning up and washing dishes. It really will require that we have about 10 people doing this each week.

As you see salt bags please pick up a couple of bags so we can stick pile for this winter.

Notification per Locked Door Policy

It has come to my attention that there are people objecting to our locking doors prior to worship. While the front doors to the sanctuary will remain open, the other doors will be locked. This is a safety issue both protecting our property and a safe sanctuaries issue protecting our children. As the pastor in charge this is a non debate able issue. There will be signs posted this week at each door explaining the timing and giving directions to the sanctuary. We have no greater treasure than our children. I am sorry if this is an inconvenience to you. Any questions may be directed to me. The Safe Sanctuaries policy adopted by all United Methodist Churches requires that we do all we can to ensure the safety of our children and others that may be susceptible to danger. Peace to you, Rev. Greg

Additional Information ~ With the influx of children we need to make sure we are doing everything to insure their safety. One of the steps we can take is to lock all the doors others than those leading into the sanctuary just prior to worship. This will prevent any one from entering the church uninvited. Another step we can take is to provide adult supervision in the children's wing. A sign up sheet is available. If we take turns it will not overburden any of us. There is no greater treasure than our children.
Door Sign
These doors will be locked no later than 10:25 am. The doors to the sanctuary are open
while we are in worship.

Help needed in the office. If you can volunteer, please see Barb Hudgell or Pastor Greg.

It is exciting to be in a church that is growing the way Cooper Memorial Umc is growing. Now we are facing some of the difficulties of growth. We need people for our children's ministry, Sunday School classes and creating a weekday ministry. A youth leader, we have a Sunday School teacher teaching our new Middle School class, (I am so excited) We need a nursery worker, (three babies in worship last week). You know what these are difficulties that I am enjoying having to deal with. ~ Rev Greg

~ Thank you all of those special people who give of

    their time and talents!!!

Help requested in the nursery
If anyone is willing to help with the nursery during Sunday School or church we would like to create a rotation. Hopefully we will have enough volunteers that with 2 in the nursery during church & 1 during Sunday School we would only be scheduled once a month. If you don't attend a class this would be a ministry opportunity for you.
There will be books and activities so part of the time will be play & part will be a chance for you to share the Bible stories children love.

Contact Russell Hudgell if you are willing to help.

All "Worship Bags" are to remain at church.

A note from the church Trustees in case of Snow

The Trustees will do everything they can to keep the church open in case of snow. Please be aware of the fact that the parking lots will not be plowed. We will concentrate on clearing the sidewalks, stairs, and ramps to the back entrances of the church and down to the fellowship hall, and request that you use ONLY those entrances on days when there is snow. Each snow event will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but we will be trying very hard to not spend to the maximum of our snow budget.
Please contact the church office if you have questions on parking lot conditions during snow events.

* New email addresses: and

* If you have e-mail and are not currently receiving the prayer requests and would like to do so,

Please notify us also if you are getting them now and want your address removed.

******* Please take precautions with your belongings on Sundays. This includes
leaving items visible in your car that might tempt a thief and leaving items of value
unattended inside the building.
