After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. Then Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking with Jesus. Mark 9:2-5 New Living Translation

Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"  Mark 9:7 New Living Translation

Friends on a Journey

What on earth is this class about? by SanDee Crabtree
This class started out as not a class. Many of my members had never attended Sunday school and weren’t sure they wanted to
or they went a long time ago and had not enjoyed the traditional class for adults. I started with food. I’m a southern girl and
that is how we do things. I cooked and they came. Of course dozens after dozens of invitation went out. Eventually we
progressed upstairs into a real classroom and a real class. My group started as a group in their 30s-70s; currently we have
members from 40s to 70s, so we don’t have a particular age group. We have several singles, widows, widowers, and
married, so we aren’t classified by those definitions. The key ingredient that we do share is a desire to learn. Everyone was
concerned about possibly having to read, pray, or share and all felt unable or unwilling to do that. We have lots of sharing in
our group but none is ever required or expected.

For a bunch of people who had little biblical knowledge and/or been out of church for years, this group decided to tackle
something easy for starters. We started with Revelation. I was more than hesitant. I had studied the bible for years but
never Revelation. That was the one topic that I was clueless about. I felt near panic. I argued with God, “Do I really have to
do this?” Of course the answer is obvious. We completed Revelation after nearly a year and have almost completed Daniel,
the old testament equivalent, and have studied Esther. We have not decided where we are headed next. If you aren’t sure
you fit anywhere, please stop in the 20-30 class, that’s what our sign says. I call it the “wishful thinking” class and someday
we will have a new sign that says Journey but for now that is our sign and where we are located. You probably pass us in the
hallway heading into church, stop in. We eagerly are searching for new people to travel on this journey with us. The more
the merrier.

The Journey class will start a series in the fall about "Women of the Bible." This is not a class just for the girls, there is plenty to learn from
these strong women. Guys, we have been studying "Men of the Bible" for years, now its the ladies turn. We hope to add more men to our
class as an equal perspective is always nice for discussion and we tend to have many. Bring your open mind and heart and join us for a spell
-- we are a might friendly bunch, real laid back, and 100% dedicated to learning more about the word of God.

Sunday 9:30 a.m. Hope to see you there!

A note from the church Trustees in case of Snow

The Trustees will do everything they can to keep the church open in case of snow. Please be aware of the fact that the parking lots will not be plowed. We will concentrate on clearing the sidewalks, stairs, and ramps to the back entrances of the church and down to the fellowship hall, and request that you use ONLY those entrances on days when there is snow. Each snow event will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but we will be trying very hard to not spend to the maximum of our snow budget.
Please contact the church office if you have questions on parking lot conditions during snow events.

A note from the church Trustees concerning policy change

From the trustees: The policy for use of the building has been rewritten. Fees have been increased members and non-members alike are to pay to offset the utilities. Also, any group that uses the building for a fundraiser is asked to donate a minimum of 10% of profit to the church.
